Indonesia-Brunei Sign MOU on Culture

Jakarta, Kominfo Newsroom -– Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam here Tuesday (22/4) signed an MOU on culture to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Signing was done by the ministers for tourism and culture of the two countries at the Merdeka Palace. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam witnessed the event.
The two heads of state reiterated their commitment to step up amity and cooperation between the two countries based on mutual respect and understanding, mutual profit and in keeping with the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, the principles of justice and international laws.
The two leaders agreed to boost economic cooperation, trade and investment in Indonesia. At the same time, efforts will be made to increase new job opportunities.
Yudhoyono invited Brunei to invest in Indonesia, particularly in the special economic zone in Batam, Karimun and Bintan.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah asked Indonesia to invest in Brunei, notably in sectors that are of mutual benefit.
President Yudhoyono asked the Brunei monarch to consider buying Indonesian manufactured CN-235 aircraft and other local products of alutsista (major arms weaponry). (T.ww/tr/toeb/ton)
